Tokyo – Day 3

First stop today was a corner shop to purchase an umbrella as the heavens had well and truly opened. The choice of umbrella is either white or clear, so it was quite a view that morning at rush hour with hundreds of people walking with the same umbrellas in the rain.

We had planned to head back to Asakusa to catch the Hotaluna boat to Odaiba. Not the best weather for a boat, but alas we carried on with our plans. Once in Asakusa we dodged the rain into a lovely café called Suke6 Diner with interior goals for some breakfast.

The Hotaluna boat was like something from space! We arrived at Odaiba and headed to the Miraikan Science Museum.

We saw the Assimo Robot and enjoyed looking around the futuristic museum. There was so many different things to play with and look at, though Assimo was my favourite. From there we headed to a shopping centre nearby and here I found my Mecca – a Studio Ghibli merchandise shop! Well to say I was like a kid in a candy shop would be an understatement.

By the time we headed back to Asakusa, it was nightfall and such a different vibe to when we had visited on our first day. It was all lit up and bustling with shoppers. It felt like the moment on Spirited Away when all the food stalls appear as Chihiro tries to find her parents. We picked a restaurant and 2 Ramens later we headed to Akihabara with full tums!

Unfortunately, a few of the places we had planned to go closed at 8pm and we arrived past 9 so planned to return another day, but we did spot lots of men playing the popular Pachinko!
